Ovation Rock Show 2017

The inaugural OVATION ROCK SHOW at the Minerva was one of the most challenging yet by far the most rewarding, exciting and successful events we have put on to date. The 2pm show was huge fun and we’re proud of all the kids who took part, especially those who have very little, if any, performance experience! Very well done to all the singers and bands who took part! It just goes to show what children and young people are capable of if you believe in them, and give them the freedom and opportunity to express themselves in a creative way and in a supportive environment. The main 7pm show was spectacular!! From the moment Ovation Voices backed by our house band launched into their powerful version of Muse’s ‘Knights of Cydonia’, right through to Station 47’s impressive original set, we were treated to an astonishingly high standard of songs from a wide variety of young singer-songwriters, vocal groups, session bands and original bands, including the mighty Curfew, Home Feels Foreign, Minor Issue & Sideways Symbol, Cured Riot, Ricochet, The V8’s, Katie Evans, Immy & Millie Sleep, Mia Nicholls, Callum Peyman, Marie Neill, Mattie Perry, Alicia Maple, Ella Davidson, Anna Foye and phenomenal singer-songwriter Isaac Waddington! Not forgetting, of course, our super-talented session musicians, you know who you are! Very well played all!

A big thank you to creative Producers Georgie Warden & Tom Truman, and to everyone who helped us on the day, also to all the parents, our Sponsors – Seaward, Covers and CMA, and to the Festival Theatre for their support, patience and professionalism!

The auction (expertly hosted by Patrick Doyle) in aid of the Murray Parish Trust, launched by actors Sarah Parish and Jim Murray who travelled over from Winchester to talk about their appeal, raised £3130 (thanks to all who donated and bid!), and Ovation Music raised over £2000 towards the cost of future shows!

Thank you to all who came along to the shows!
